Business Overview:

Latin America is an important  market for BNP Paribas. While Brazil remains the largest economy in Latin America and the Groups activity regionaly, other major countries in the region are also significant contributors for the business and for long standing relations with clients. For example, BNP Paribas has been uninterruptedly present in Colombia for more than 40 years.

BNP Paribas has a historical footprint in the Hispanic Latin America. The Bank has been in the region since 1914 and is now present in 5 countries with nearly 2000 employees between Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB) and Investment and Protection Services.

CIB in Hispanic Latin America has world-class teams of roughly 200 professionals spread among Colombia, Mexico, Chile, Peru and Argentina, thus ensuring an overall coverage of BNP Paribas’ client franchise in the region. Job Purpose:

The HR OPC HLATAM wo MX AVP is the expert in Argentina, Colombia, Perú and Chile, in terms of Operational Risk Management, Permanent Control and Risk for HR function.  This position owns the Human Resources Generic Control Plan adoption, implementation and execution for Argentina, Colombia, Peru and Chile, as well as the Risk Management processes.

Duties and Responsibilities

Operational Risk Management:

·       Analyse operational risk incidents with the relevant HR teams. Report and update these incidents in the designated tool.

·       Ensure appropriate action plans are developed and implemented to improve processes and prevent incidents

·       Responsible for the Risk and Control Self-Assessment

·       Responsible for the update and harmonization of the HR Risk Taxonomy.

·       Responsible for the HR Risk Control Library

·       Be exposed to HR Management and Senior Management for regular presentations on Controls and Risk, Audit and Compensation Committees

·       Provide the required information to HR teams on operational risk matters (audit related queries, etc.).

·       Act as primary liaison between HR and the ORC teams

·       Secure that the analysis of HR activities and risks is integrated to the business unit’s cartography

Permanent Control:

·       Coordinate the full deployment of the Group HR control plan

·    Secure the existence and efficiency of a permanent control framework and the measurement and management of operational risk for the activities under GRH direct responsibility

·      Contribute to the existence and the efficiency of a permanent control framework and the measurement and management of HR operational risks for the Locations in scope.

·       Ensure execution of BNPP Group HR control plan, as well as, local controls and waivers

·       Monitor the execution on an ongoing basis of all HR controls identified in the control plan.

·       Analyse the permanent control framework and design improvements where relevant

·       Ensure all HR procedures are reviewed and updated by HR teams in a timely manner

·       Develop and monitor key risk indicators and other management information tools

·       Consolidate the Permanent Control Report for countries in scope

·       Prepare ad-hoc reports

·       Act as primary liaison between HRC and the OPC teams

·       Perform controls level 1c for countries in scope

Risk awareness:

·       Promote best practices in terms of operational risk management

·       Train HR teams on operational risk

·       Comply with all applicable regulations (local or those defined by Group) and BNPP internal policies as well as Code of Conduct.  This includes but is not limited to Financial Security, Know Your Customer, Due Diligence, Client Interest Protection, Market Integrity, Professional Ethics and Respect for colleagues

IG recommendations/MRAs:

·       Track all outstanding recommendations and assist relevant HR teams in the remediation effort

·       Update all open recommendations in designated tool.

·       Alert senior HR management in case of delay potentially impacting the ability to close the recommendations

·       Track audit closure progress team.

Additionally, the Operational Risk and Permanent Control Analyst Hispanic Latam is responsible of monitoring KYE related issues or any unusual activities in a proactive manner communicating them to the Compliance team.


·       +10 Years of experience in HR o Risk related positions

·       Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education/experience/training

·       Good verbal and written communication in English and Spanish

·       Ability to operate autonomously

·       Ability to work as part of a multicultural team

·       Analytical and project management skills

·       Ability to collaborate with internal/external stakeholders and to be client-oriented

Preferred qualifications:

·       Knowledge of operational risk management a plus

·       Knowledge of HR processes in the financial sector a plus

·       Proficient with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel and Power Point)

·       Six Sigma certification a plus

Certifications (Mandatory for Global Markets, ALMT, Risk)


 Direct Reports

This position shares supervisory responsibility over HR OPC / EDM HLATAM wo MX Analyst, with Colombia HR Head.


This role requires continuous interaction with Heads of HR, HRBPs and HR Analysts in countries within scope.
